Shirovasthi Ayurveda Treatment

Certain mixture of the lukewarm herbal oils which are prescribed by the Ayurveda Physician according to the individual body type are poured into a cap fitted on the head for 15 to 60 minutes per day according to the patient’s conditions for the advised period.

This treatment is highly effective for facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches, burning sensation of head.



This is a process in which a belt is fastened around the head wrap the portion of the forehead so a well like arrangement takes place over the head. This well is then filled with oil and set aside for some time. This is also useful in diseases of the head especially in difficulties arising due to injuries to the head.

Shirovasthi

Shirovasti is a specialized treatment in which medicated oils are administered on the head. A leather cap is
kept on the head of the patient and a certain mixture of the lukewarm herbal oils is poured into this cap. The oil is
allowed to remain inside the cap for about 45 minutes and then it is drained out.

The oil used for therapy depends on the individual’s body type as well as the disorder to be cured. Shirovasti treatment is mainly useful in facial paralysis, dryness of nostrils, mouth and throat, severe headaches,
burning sensation of head, eye diseases, diseases of cranial nerves and hair fall. It is also helpful to improve memory,
vision and mental faculties.
